E-Werk

The former power station „Buchhändlerhof“ (1924-28, architekt Hans Heinrich Müller) became famous as epicenter of the upcoming techno scene in Berlin in the 1990s. As listed monument the ensemble is also known as an outstanding exemple of the industrial architecture of the 1920s. In 2004/2005 the E-Werk was transformed into the head quarter of an IT company.

The intention of the architects was to transform the autonomous and enclosed character of the technical building into an modern office building opening up to the city.

The unique atmosphere of the historic ensemble was preserved as an identity-generating resource, while the new program was aesthetically and functionally integrated.

The former halls have been refurbished as specific locations for a great variety of events and got an up to date technical upgrade.
