Wallstraße

The listed building complex in Berlin Mitte is a four-wing complex that fits into the closed building line of Wallstraße. At the rear, the building extends to the water's edge of the Spree. The water-side façades, including the courtyard fronts, are uniformly designed in exposed brickwork. Towards the street, however, the differently designed and plastered façade sections give the impression of two independent buildings.

The building complex was build between 1870 and 1874 by Mr. Lademann as a residential, commercial and industrial building. The richly decorated 500 m² sales room with a surrounding gallery is particularly noteworthy.

The building, which was not destroyed in the Second World War, has retained its structural multi-functional use until today. Due to a lack of renovation during the GDR and post-reunification periods, the building fabric was in a very poor condition. The four-wing complex was carefully renovated with the construction measures that have now been initiated. The aim was to preserve as much as possible of the rich original inventory. In the process, some of the rooms were reallocated and altered in a manner compatible with the preservation of the building in order to meet today's requirements for individual, high-quality residential and commercial spaces.
